Here are a few more pictures from early May. Patrick will be transitioning out of the Navy at the end of June, and since this was most likely one of the last times he'll wear this uniform we snapped some photos.
Gertie the Goose has proudly served generations of Hembrees, entertaining 3 children, 6 grandchildren and now 2 great-grandchildren. Keep up the good work Gertie!
Being closer to friends means being able to meet new babies; welcome Finn!
Reading with Grandpa.
Fluffy and clean (and bandana-ed.)
Snuggling with GG.
Patrick took the kids to a local bluegrass festival while I took a solo roadtrip to New Jersey for a friend's baby shower (another perk of being back: being able to attend showers!) The kids really enjoyed the music and the arm/hand art.
I took the kids to Colvin Run Mill, a local water mill, and we enjoyed comparing it to the windmills of Germany.
Kids and dogs in a stupor. Brennan's ear is red and swollen in this picture, for the 3rd or 4th time since our arrival. After Dr. trips, antibiotics, and finally antihistamine cream, my final diagnosis is an allergic reaction to gnat bites. I could be totally wrong, but it makes the most sense to me and he now seems to have finally developed the immunity that all the rest of us D.C. swamp-raised people already had.
