August

In August we cooled off with sprinkler parties,

watched Brennan's sunflower bloom,

and pretended we were knights,

when really we were sleepy monkeys.

In August Isla turned 5!!  She had the party of her dreams at Pump It Up, and it was everything she had hoped for.  We played,

and jumped,

and withstood hurricane force winds,

and had so much fun!

Isla was such a gracious hostess and I was so proud of her.

Afterward there were gifts,

and a fashion show,

and bubble gum!

Isla chose meatball subs for her special birthday dinner.

Two of my favorite meatballs.

Make a wish!

Happy 5th birthday sweet girl!

In August Kellan finally tried out the Laufrad.  If he's going to be biking by 3 1/2 like is siblings then he needs to start practicing!

At times everyone ended up in the same bed and snuggled sweetly,

or bickered all morning and possibly through lunch.

We made ice cream sandwiches,

played at the park,

and had tons of fun at tennis class.

We took a wonderful trip to Charleston to visit Aunt Dara, Uncle Pace and Chester.

We collected shells,

saw a giant shrimp,

and got to do some shrimping of our own!

Watching the fiddler crabs.

There were splash parks,

(Is that child wearing pj shorts?  Someone must have forgotten to pack his bathing suit...)

and picnics,

and playgrounds,

and relaxing moments in the backyard.

The kids loved any activity that involved Chester, from evening beach walks,

to bedtime stories.

What a fun visit!

Handsome boys with haircuts.

A nice hike along the Potomac and picnic with Cristina, Elena and Stringer.

Rocking those athletic socks!

An evening magic show.

Family hike in very local woods during which all 3 kids needed to pee.

Toddler power.

Brennan's got that under control.

Can't keep him down!

Happy birthday Grandpa!!

Bedtime stories with Grandma.

A painting session.

Walking with Brennan on the first day of school!  He's a big second grader now!

Quick hugs for is brother and sister before he races off to catch up with a friend.

Later that day, Isla got to catch the bus and head off to Kindergarten!  She was SO excited.

Kellan gave hugs all around.

After a full and exciting first day of school, Isla had her first soccer practice of the season.  Whew, it's been a busy month!
