Christmas in Germany would not be complete without experiencing a Weihnachtsmarkt, so despite the freezing temperatures we took Grams and Gramps down to Aachen. Brennan enjoyed riding the train and was excited enough about the merry-go-round to brave the cold once we arrived. Patrick and I attended an Ugly Sweater Christmas party hosted by some of our friends, and Patrick won first prize. He pretty much looked like Uncle Eddie from National Lampoons; too bad this picture doesn't show the white shoes.

Brennan was allowed to open one Christmas gift early this year (ok, to be honest I saw what was on the packing slip and couldn't wait to see his excitement). Aunt Sarah and Uncle Tim sent him his very own train to play in and he was thrilled! He really likes other people to join him inside, but it's a tight fit for Patrick.

Here are some photos from Christmas morning. Brennan had a great time opening all of his gifts, and was a little overwhelmed. He did remember that Santa had promised him a "hello," and Santa did come through with a set of walkie talkies. Thank goodness, Brennan is developing quite the long memory!

We had the McLallens over for a nice Christmas dinner and Brennan got to share his new toys with Colin and Brandt. The next week we had the Siemanns over to introduce them (belatedly) to Thankgiving, which they really enjoyed. Here is a video of the kids horsing around after dinner.

Brennan sounds so old!! Wish we were all still together so they could be playmates!
