2016!

Happy New Year!  We went on a New Year's Day hike to get 2016 off to a great start!

Isla and Kellan wore their Wild Kratts vests.

Parts of the trail were very, very muddy and I kept nagging cautioning the kids to go slow to avoid slipping.

Brennan tried to take a running leap over a mud lake and changed his mind at the last second, resulting in a slide.  Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.  At least we were almost to the car so he wasn't cold for long.

Lunch date with my girl.

It got so warm that my hyacinth came up.  I wanted to enjoy them so forced them indoors where they bloomed nicely.  It smelled like spring in the dining room.

Isla making enchiladas.

What a bunch of characters.

Indoor footskills, and Brennan was finally on a scrimmage team with his two buds.

A visit from Daddy!!!  First things first, we took him on our favorite hike.

Sweet snuggles.

This was our main activity for about 75% of his visit.

One happy family!!!

The book that Daddy fixed for Kellan.

Blizzard prep.

The first taste.

Friday evening.

Saturday morning.

Saturday and still going strong

Saturday afternoon: time to venture out.

Saturday evening and still snowing.

Drifting over the fence.

Sunday morning and it's an ocean of snow.

Plowed by a front loader on Tuesday.  Being housebound was really fun and relaxing, and we loved shoveling with our neighbors; it was like a cold block party.  But civilization found us and we had to return to the real world.

Snow day art.

Snow day banana bread.

There are some benefits to having clear roads, such as visits from friends!  We had such a wonderful time with Amy!

January ended on a very warm note.  Here we are eating outside in the sun, and one of us is even wearing short sleeves and shorts!
