December

Brennan turned 8!!  He had some of his friends over for pizza and a movie.  They all had so much fun, and while everything looks very controlled in these photos, the noise level was indescribable.

Happy birthday Beanie, we love you so much!!!

To my relief they did all sit and watch the movie (Escape from Planet Earth).

Ava and Isla.  (It was crazy hair day at school.)

We had a half hour of pure mayhem fun before the party was over.  We did have a moment of relative order when I played the song "Watch Me" and the boys immediately started performing the dance moves.

The next morning it was off to get our Christmas tree!

We found a very cute one that was a manageable size,

worked together to cut it down,

and took it to be netted and tagged.

We got it home and in the stand, and then it was off to Fairfax Station for a train show and lunch with Grams, Papa & Pam.

With a little more birthday fun for Brennan mixed in.

The next day we decorated our tree with a little help from Grandma & Grandpa.

Brenna wasn't feeling great and Rocky kept him company.

A couple of nuts.

At the doctor again.  It's been a rough Fall!!

We got to meet with Santa at our neighborhood holiday party.  Brennan's wishlist included an iPhone6; Santa got a big belly laugh out of that one!

We attended the second annual Hanukkah party at the Gussmans, which is a highlight of the holiday season for us!

Sometimes I put Kellan to bed and he just keeps showing back up downstairs.

Christmas cookies!

Kellan's Christmas program at preschool.  He looks very natural in elf ears.

Kellan is more than happy to process in,

pose for photo ops,

and give some shout outs to his favorite sister,

but under no circumstance will you catch him actually singing.

Next we went straight to Isla's class party.  I am the room mom so you know, no pressure to throw a great party or anything!

We had a hibernation party and the kids had a great time; yay!

Then straight to Brennan's class party, where I shared party planning duty with another mom.  A room full of second graders hopped up on oreos is a totally different animal than a group of 14 Kindergartners who aren't allowed to bring food to parties and are still docile and follow directions.  Both parties were a blast, and Kellan got to enjoy it all!

Brennan would not sit for a photo until his teacher (whom he loves) made him, so these beautiful smiles are technically for her.

Ivan came for a sleepover!  He is such a sweet kid.  Isla loved that he read her a book.

Staying up late(-er than Kellan) and watching a movie.  Sadly those boys stayed up waaay too late, despite repeated attempts on my part to get them to go to sleep, and they both threw up once at some point the next day.  That'll teach em!

Gingerbread houses!

The tree at Town Center with Grandma & Grandpa.

Isla likes to play beauty parlor with Grams.

T'was the night before Christmas...

Santa hat selfie.

Merry Christmas!

Brennan was so excited about his stocking full of new undies (among other gifts) that he didn't seem to mind that there was no iPhone.  Whew!  B - "Underwear!  More underwear!!  Santa knows I wear Fruit of the Loom!!!"  So gratifying. =)  And that's the magic of Christmas!

Christmas with Grandma, Grandpa, the Hembrees and the Wilbers! (Thank you to Stefan for these lovely photos!)

Family Photo - Step 1: Props and Positions

Step 2: Takes and retakes and mishaps and mutiny amongst the children and for goodness sake get ahold of yourself Uncle Eric; stay strong!

Step 3: Give the children cookies and voila!  Success!

The Wild Kratts!

Christmas with Oma!

Rocky and Sammy.

 Presents from Daddy!

Christmas (and a tea party) with Grams, Papa, Debbi & Jeff!

We all decided to stay up for the ball drop on New Year's Eve.  Kellan didn't last long.

Dropping like flies.

Happy New Year!!!
