Madurodam, Netherlands

Here are some photos from around the house and one self-portrait from a recent visit to the weekly antique/stuff market in Tongeren, Belgium. It was way too cold to risk taking my hands out of my pockets for more pictures!

We recently took a trip to Den Haag, Netherlands to visit Madurodam, the smallest Dutch city. Both my father and a good friend of ours have vivid memories of visiting Madurodam during their respective stints living in Europe, so we thought we'd take Brennan to check it out. Madurodam is a miniature city, built to a scale of 1:25, and is actually a war monument and charity foundation. It contains replicas of real buildings from the Hague and other places in the Netherlands, and has working locks and windmills, as well as automated cars, trains, planes and boats. It was really neat and Brennan was duly impressed. The day that we were there was a very windy one. I hesitate to say "hurricane force", but yeah, pretty darn windy. That's ok, it just made our lunch break for soup and hot chocolate at the cafe that much cozier.

Here are Brennan at Schiphol airport, one of the many canals, and some miniature tulip fields. And who can resist the opportunity for yet another "Hudocks in a Clog" photo?? Not me!
