Golden Fall

So far this fall is the best we've had here in Germany. The weather has been great; cool, crisp and sunny, and it's made me appreciate how beautiful this area is in autumn. We've tried to get outside as much as possible to enjoy. Here are the kids on a quick walk through the neighborhood and collecting acorns.

My little bookworms.

We recently spiced up a grocery run to Schinnen by stopping for lunch at Kasteel Terborgh. We all shared a tasty tomato soup and brie & honey toastie. We ate outside under the warm sun and the kids ran around and fed clumps of grass to the pony.

We invited some friends over for a pumpkin party and the kids enjoyed carving and painting. We roasted the seeds (a first for our German friends) and plied the kids with apple cake, pumpkin cookies and caramel apples.

We took a field trip with Brennan's Kindergarten to a local park. The park featured multiple playgrounds, a small zoo, and an old fort.

Brennan climbed higher than I was comfortable with on this rope tower. Isla scaled some mountains of her own.

It was fun to hang out with some of Brennan's Kindergarten friends and their families, and we even saw some beautiful fall colors.

Just some silliness at home. Isla noticed Brennan lying on the floor and plopped right down on top of him. Here they are fighting over everyone's favorite baby doll and having fun with the conductor hat.

We picked Brennan up from Kindergarten one lovely fall day and took our lunch to the Burgberg for a picnic. We had the Berg all to ourselves and the kids romped around in the grass collecting leaves and sticks. It was pretty cool to be having our lunch in a place where people lived (and lunched) so many centuries ago.
